All day - Wednesday Feb. 2 - Formal uniform is required
Bring the usual snack and lunch - Once we arrive, we will have time for a snack before we go into the Telus classroom and learn about HEARING and SOUND (our next science unit).
We have 3 parents who will be helping us out - Thank you!
Ask your child about the learning we did this week....
Literacy:
- We continued using transition words to write about a process. This week we focused on writing directions to play a snowman math game! (see pictures below). This game will be coming home next week...please take time to play it with your child.
- More spelling fun using lego (see picture below).
- Our focus was on solving open-ended math problems and learning that some math problems have more than one answer.
- This is the most recent math problem we solved....Parents - give it a try!

January 17 - January 21
Ask your child about the learning we did this week...
Literacy
- We reviewed transition words and using these words to describe a process
- We used transition and descriptive words and wrote about the process for building a snowman
- We had fun using Lego to "build" our spelling words. Can you figure out some of our spelling words?
- We are solving Open Ended math word problems with many possible answers. For example:
- We learned what a Net is and created 3-D shapes
- We are having fun becoming Fashion Designers by creating Traditional Clothing (from Peru, Ukraine and Tunisia) for our paper people.
- We made a mess (but had fun) playing with mud, sand and water....in a scientific way!! Using dirt and adding water we discovered layers form and each layer is made up of certain material. We also used sand and water to learn about erosion and the harmful effects erosion can have on landforms.
Dear Grade 3 parents,
Your children will be bringing home some field trip forms on Monday for them to go to Telus Spark Feb 1,2, or 3 (class specifics can be found on your teacher blog and will be on the letter coming home). If you are able to volunteer for your child's class, you have your police clearance as well as being fully vaccinated, please contact your child's teacher ASAP. Unfortunately, if we do not get enough volunteers, we will need to cancel this amazing opportunity so please check your calendars and join us for this fun day!
Thank you
Sincerely, Mrs. Taylor on behalf of the Grade 3 team.

- Layers of the earth AND layers found in soil
- We worked through the scientific process and completed a science experiment to discover what we can find in soil.
- Researching traditional clothing in Peru, Tunisia and Ukraine
- If you have small pieces of cloth or other items that will help create tradition clothing (for your paper doll) bring these items to school on Monday.
