Ask your child about the learning we did this week.......
Valentine Day card exchange:
This was definitely the highlight of the week. The students decorated Valentine envelops and then exchanged their cards. Many sweet messages of friendship and caring were shared 💖.
Math:
We made heart arrays connecting multiplication and Valentine's Day. The students discovered Fact Families and dividing objects equally into groups.
Science:
We learned more about parts of the ear and some of the functions. See below for our Anatomy of the Ear creations.
💝 February 7 - February 11 💝
Ask your child about the learning we did this week......
Character:
- February Gratitude Hearts - Each school day in February we write one word, phrase or draw a picture that shows something we are grateful for.
Literacy:
- We had many laughs as we wrote stories about how to sneak a dragon, baby sister, grandma, or pet into school.
- Transition words continue to be the focus as we write about different events.
- We learned about the importance of writing "attention grabbing beginnings" by using sound words (onomatopoeia), dialogue, action or a thought.
Math:
- I hope everyone has had a chance to share and play their Snowman Game. The students worked hard designing their game and generating math questions. Enjoy playing the game at home!
- We started learning about ARRAYS and using arrays to help us solve multiplication questions. We used stamps to create ROWS and COLUMNS - Look at some of our work:
Science:
- We went on a sound hunt around our school and outside. We discovered that some sounds are quiet, loud, pleasant and unpleasant. We used a decibel scale meter to measure loud and quiet sounds.
